Students raise concerns of safety following recent nearby shootings

Family and friends gather to remember Marcus Edwards

Blair Young, Staff WriterNearly 400 people packed into Judah Temple AME Zion Church in Mitchellville, which needed two extra rooms to hold the amount of overflow. Hundreds of cars were parked as far as three blocks away from the service, to pay respect to who many described as an incredible young man. His family was front and center with everyone from his grandparents to the youngest little cousins. Morgan was represented by the many members of S.M.O.O.T.H., which Edwards was a vital part. Details of Gerald Williams’ death arise prior to suspect’s hearing

The Spokesman StaffAfter a nearly two month investigation, a suspect was arrested in the fatal stabbing of Morgan State University student Gerald Williams on February 1. The suspect, Harry Malik Robertson of Bowie, was arrested on March 31 in Prince George’s County, and will face a preliminary hearing Tuesday at Baltimore District Court. At the hearing, it’s expected that Robertson will offer a plea to charges of first and second degree murder as well as a lesser charge of possession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure. Morgan Police Prepare for Homecoming Weekend

by Blair YoungThe Morgan State Police Force has began to make preparations to accommodate the massive influx of over 2,500 people who are expected to convene onto Morgan State’s campus this weekend for the homecoming festivities. The Morgan Police will be the primary force overseeing all activities on campus. The Baltimore City Police Department will only assist with closing streets for the parade. With a full staff of officers on detail they will be using metal detectors and searching for small weapons and contraband.
