Morgan State’s fans have mixed emotions about the football season so far

by Blair Young, Sports EditorMorgan football fans finally had something to applaud at Hughes Stadium during the football game. At halftime the 1967 undefeated championship football team was honored and the crowd gave them a standing ovation. That was about all they had to cheer for, because the current team suffered another lopsided loss 49-17 to the North Carolina A&T Aggies. The stadium was full of fans with attendance listed at 7,437. Both sides of the stands were near full with A&T bringing two buses full of fans, as well as many local alumni joining them in the guest stands. […]

The Bears finally get on the scoreboard, but fall in MEAC Opener

by Ty’rique Sims Assistant Sports EditorThe Morgan State Bears hosted the North Carolina A&T State Aggies Saturday night at Hughes Stadium in their MEAC opener. The Bears entered this contest being held scoreless in three games and being outscored by their opponents 101-0. The Bears were finally able to get on the scoreboard, but lost to A&T 49-17. “The monkey is essentially off those guys back but the monkey is still there because we’re not scoring enough points to win,” said Bears head Coach Fred T. Conference Games: Morgan State versus North Carolina A&T!

This week presents a challenge for The Bears, who play their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game. The Bears lose big to Rutgers, while looking ahead to MEAC Schedule

by Ty’Rique Sims, Assistant Sports EditorFor the third straight game the Morgan State Bears were held scoreless, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights defeated the Bears, 65-0 Saturday afternoon at High Point Solutions Stadium. This Big Ten-MEAC clash marked the final non-conference game for the Bears, as they open conference play next week. Coming into this game, Bears head Coach Fred T. Farrier benched starting quarterback Elijah Staley for the first quarter due to an internal disciplinary issue. Sophomore quarterback DeAndre Harris took the start.
