Lady Bears Basketball post 2-1 record through first three games

The team is led by senior guard Braennan Farrar and senior forward Tykayrah Williams. Both Farrar and Williams were selected to the preseason All-MEAC teams. The Lady Bears roster this season is a lot different than last year’s. With the departures of Zuri White, Chelsea Mitchell, Jayde Duncan and Ivy Harrington, head coach Edward Davis signed new additions to the team. This brings The Bears to 1-7, with three games left in the season.   Key penalties and a late fourth quarter interception by sophomore quarterback DeAndre Harris added to the Bears defeat. Morgan State’s Carr and Kendley Awarded MEAC Preseason Honors

In an announcement Thursday, forward Phillip Carr was named Preseason Player of the Year and guard Tiwian Kendley was named to the Preseason All-MEAC First Team. Carr, a Brooklyn, New York native, led the Bears in rebounding, and was second on the team in scoring last season. Carr becomes the first Bear to be named the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year since former Morgan standouts Kevin Thompson (2010) and Reggie Holmes received it (2009).
