Ty’Rique Sims, Staff WriterIt took a team effort for the Morgan State University Lady Bears (3-19, 1-8 MEAC) to pick up their first MEAC victory of the season. Morgan defeated the North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles (3-16, 2-6 MEAC) 44-42 Saturday at Hill Field House. Senior guard Ivy Harrington came off the bench scoring a team high eight points. The team’s leading scorer, junior guard Braennan Farrar also had eight points. Junior forward Tykyrah Williams and sophomore guard Chelsea Mitchell each scored seven points. by Devon AshbyThe Morgan State Lady Bears won their first round matchup against the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles, 52-42, on Monday afternoon to kick off the MEAC Tournament. Sophomore guard Zuri White recorded a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to lead the way for Morgan. The Lady Bears out-rebounded NCCU, 45-38, with 21 of those coming on the offensive end. Lady Bears win to take top spot in MEAC

by Devon Ashby, Staff WriterThe Morgan State Lady Bears moved to first place in the MEAC following a 66-55 win over the North Carolina Central University Eagles. Although the Lady Bears have a better record than the Lady Eagles’ four-win mark, the game was competitive up to the final whistle. They opened the game with a 7-0 run in the first quarter, and in the second half they came out with similar intensity despite trailing. Devon Ashby, Staff WriterThe Morgan State Lady Bears basketball improved their conference record to 6-2 following a big win over crosstown rivals Coppin State University Monday night in Hill Field House. The Lady Bears came into the contest hoping to ride the momentum from their victory over Howard University two nights prior, and that’s exactly what they did.
