Notable journalist Gwen Ifill dies

Benjamin McKnight III, Editor-In-ChiefFormer Washington Post and New York Times reporter Gwen Ifill died Monday afternoon at the age of 61 after a battle with cancer. A native of New York City, Ifill’s career began as an intern at the Boston Herald-American while she was a student at Simmons College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Hayden’s career has exceedingly prepared her for the demands in the role of the Librarian of Congress. She earned her undergraduate degree from Roosevelt University and continued with earning a M.A. and Ph.D. from the Graduate Library School of the University of Chicago, studying Library Science.
