Morgan State football players make MEAC All-Conference teams

Being recognized as a top player in their respective positions, Carl Garnes, Brandon Jones, Rico Kennedy, and Malachi Washington were rewarded with their high level of play this year. Garnes, defensive back, earned third team honors along with linebacker Kennedy. The Morgan State Men’s basketball team were riding a three game losing streak, before their Dec. 9 loss at Manhattan College. The Bears were on the road for those three games but the Bears didn’t have to travel far as all the games fell in the DMV area. The Bears losses had a point differential of seven, seven and five. A Morgan State University audience was treated Friday to a preview screening of Tell Them We Are Rising, which will air nationwide on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. EST. Morgan State University announces the 2017 December Commencement Speaker

by Devon Ashby, Staff Writer With December commencement just two weeks away, Morgan State University announced that Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor is serving as this year’s commencement speaker. Morgan President David Wilson announced that Boyd K. Rutherford will deliver the commencement address Dec. 15 in the Talmadge Hill Field House, the last of three commencement ceremonies marking the university’s sesquicentennial year. Lt. Governor Rutherford graduated from Howard University in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and he earned his law degree and a master’s in communication from the University of Southern California in 1990. Sawyerr, a Morgan senior and english major, developed the book titled For Girls Growing into Their Hips after winning her position as youth poet laurate.
