Morgan Fights Crime Increase with Blue Security Booths

Stationed on Hillen Road, like the beacon towers on the Great Wall of China, several little blue security booths, just over a month old, examine each specimen trotting by. The new additions are just one of the many developments happening around Morgan in the recent campus  infrastructure makeover. Students Cry Wolf, Security Chief Says

Adrian Wiggins, executive director of  the Office of Campus and Public Safety, recounted a recent incident where a student made up a story about having been robbed — and said that such incidents are not uncommon among the many reports his department handles.  Morgan reported 19 robberies in 2012. “He says,‘I stopped here to catch my breath and tie my shoe, turn around and I start running back to where I was and I saw two guys in the cut, and these two guys in the cut robbed me with a handgun.’” The student made the report on a Tuesday, […]

Protest for the Death of Tyrone West Aim to Alert Morgan Community

Family and friends of Tyrone West, a 44-year-old man killed in what they and witnesses say was an incident of police brutality protested on Cold Spring Lane near Morgan’s Jenkins building on Sept. 4. They called for justice. West was pulled over at a stop light for a traffic stop in Northeast Baltimore on July 18 when police allegedly tried to search his car for drugs. An altercation occurred and witnesses told the Afro-American newspaper that police beat West. Eight Baltimore police officers and one Morgan State officer were involved in the incident.
