2017 Morgan State University SGA Results

by Devon Ashby, Staff WriterAfter an election period that lasted three days, Morgan State University has a new student government, as well as a new royal court, for the 2017-2018 academic school year. MSU students casted their votes electronically from April 4-7, and the results were posted outside of the SGA Office Friday afternoon. Notable winners included Marcus Bennett and Joy Barnes (SGA President and Vice-President), Kendall Joyner and Heather Guzman (Mr. and Ms. Morgan State), Jahiem James and Jasmine Dailey (Mr. and Ms. Senior), Brittany Dorsey (Ms. Junior), and Wandago Choge-Arum and Keyonnah Walker (Mr. and Ms. Sophomore). Morgan students serve community through weekend tutoring

Justin Motley, Social Media EditorThe Morgan State University Tutoring Corps officially opened its doors for this semester two weekends ago, giving parents and guardians the chance to register their children for tutoring services at the university. Run by the Office of Community Services, the program allows Baltimore City and County residents in kindergarten through fifth grade to expand on their math, reading, homework and study skills. Students honor day of service with Habitat for Humanity

Jazmine Hawes, Contributing WriterStudents from Morgan State University and Johns Hopkins University partnered with the Habitat for Humanity to help reshape and rebuild a community on McCabe Avenue in Baltimore City on Sept. 11. The nine students and a veteran, led by Betsy Wilmerding, Manager of Faith and Youth for Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake and Natasha A. Lewis-Williams, Coordinator for the Office of Student Activities at Morgan State, worked on two houses, adding to ten Habitat houses completed on this block. Baltimore mayoral candidate stops at MSU for Social Justice Forum

by Maliik Obee, Staff WriterAs the Baltimore Mayoral race continues, Councilman Nick Mosby stopped at Morgan State University for a forum with students and in a partnership with MSU’s S.M.O.O.T.H. Inc., Mosby and a panel discussed social justice reform. Paul Archibald, Ph.D., joined the panel of distinguished Morgan students to discuss a range of topics, from the direction of hip-hop to the importance of voting.
