Homecoming concert brings in new generation of stars

Homecoming concert brings in new generation of stars

Maliik Obee, Staff WriterThis week wouldn’t truly be homecoming week at Morgan State University without its highly anticipated annual concert. This year, the bill has lived up to the hype, consisting of rappers Lil Uzi Vert, Shy Glizzy and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Morgan’s football team will look to improve on its 2-3 on Oct. 22 against the North Carolina Central University Eagles. While that is the focus of the week, the concert is the centerpiece for Morgan’s less athletic student body. Headlining the event is Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi, who has made quite a name for himself following the […]

It’s Woptober!: “Woptober” album review

by Maliik Obee, Staff WriterSince his release from prison, saying Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has been productive is an understatement. For four years, fans patiently – and some impatiently – waited for a follow up to his critically acclaimed debut album Channel Orange. Some Ocean fans feel as if this is long overdue, while others may appreciate the time he took to make a solid record. The 17-track album runs a little over an hour long. For an album that has been in the works since 2013, that may be why there is a plethora of […]

Jhene Aiko and Big Sean

Twenty88 Album Review

by Terrance Smith, The MSU Spokesman Contributor Big Sean and Jhene Aiko collaborated on their self-titled album Twenty88. Sean and Aiko collaborated on a number of tracks before, however they have joined forces to create a complete record. It is safe to say Sean and AIko have solid chemistry that has grown over time through past records such as “I Know” and “I’m Gonna Be”. Their voices balance well between the two so making a complete project was a good idea. Upon first listen T88 is smooth album, giving off a very relaxing sound through the tracks. Notable tracks upon […]
